2012 holds much promise for making transportation safer, more equitable and more environmentally sounds.  Why?  Lots of ground work has been done in Missoula and beyond over the last many years.

Missoula has had some great sustainable transportation events over the last couple months.  During Bike Walk Bus week, Free Cycles ran several workshops, hosted the 14th annual Festival of Cycles, led a bike ride

Spring is landing in the Missoula Valley.  That means lots of events like rides, festivals and celebrations.  And it's also an important time for advocacy work to gain better bike lanes, trails and improved roadway designs. 

We are continuing the push to help Missoula, Montana become a model city for sustainable transportation.  Much headway has been made and yet there is so much work to be done.  Broadly, our goals are to do away with injury traffic crashes, pollution and the inequity of over dependence on oil and cars.  In other words, let's build a healthy, vibrant, clean transportation system that works for all people.

As we head into 2011, it's a time for renewal.  We are getting the Pedal Power Warehouse ready for design and production of all things cycled.  Bike trailers, 3 and 4 wheel vehicles, Long Johns, and even a pedal bus are in the works.

We have had lots of great events lately: bike rides, parades, presentations and group work sessions.  The Free Cycles shop is shifting into winter hours- 2-6pm Monday to Thursday, and we keep Saturdays at 11-3pm. 

Such an exciting time in Missoula, with Sustainable Transportation and all the activity.  Now that street and trail construction has about wrapped up- new bike lanes, cycle tracks, roundabouts, sidewalks and lighting- we turn our focus to some community events.
